The Excel-class flagships — Mardi Gras, Celebration, and Jubilee — are the headliners, each carrying BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea, plus six themed zones from a French Quarter jazz district to an Italian piazza. They're Carnival's biggest, newest, and best-eating ships.

Carnival's food punches way above its fare: Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana tacos, Shaq's Big Chicken, and steakhouse nights that cost less than a land-side chain. Seuss at Sea keeps the littles fed on green eggs and ham; Camp Ocean keeps them busy the rest of the day.
Nights run on deck parties, the comedy club's PG and R-rated sets, piano bars, and casino energy. It's not trying to be a floating museum — it's trying to be the most fun block party you've ever boarded, and it lands it.
Drive to the dock
Carnival's superpower is geography: it sails from more U.S. home ports than any line — including New Orleans and Mobile, an easy drive from right here in the Gulf South. No flights, no checked-bag fees, no airport meltdown before the vacation starts.
In 2025 Carnival opened Celebration Key on Grand Bahama — a purpose-built private destination with a mile of beach, twin lagoons, and a family waterpark — and Florida and Gulf itineraries now feature it heavily, alongside Cozumel, Jamaica, and the rest of the western Caribbean run.
The first-cruise machine
Book Carnival for the low-stakes, high-fun first cruise: drive to the port, park at the terminal, be on deck by lunch. It's also the value play for big family groups where four cabins on another line would blow the budget.
