Mexico is the workhorse of all-inclusive travel for a reason: short direct flights from most of the U.S., and a runway of resorts from mega-properties with waterslide parks to intimate adults-only hideaways. The Cancún and Riviera Maya corridor adds day trips most beach destinations can't touch — Mayan ruins, cenote swims, Isla Mujeres catamarans.
Los Cabos is the other Mexico: desert cliffs meeting the Pacific, a moodier, more dramatic backdrop, and a food scene that's quietly become a destination in itself. Same country, completely different postcard.

The Caribbean Islands
Every island has a personality, and matching it to yours is the fun part. Jamaica brings music, jerk smoke, and all-in energy from Montego Bay to Negril's cliffs. Punta Cana is the easy all-rounder — miles of palm-lined beach and outstanding value. Saint Lucia is the honeymoon with the Pitons out the window; Turks and Caicos is barefoot calm on some of the clearest water in the hemisphere.
The practical differences matter as much as the postcard: flight connections, transfer times, and seasonality vary island to island, and they quietly make or break a short trip.
Check the transfer before you fall in love. Punta Cana's airport-to-beach run is about thirty minutes; parts of Jamaica are ninety-plus. We factor that in before we ever recommend a resort.
Sandals & Beaches
Sandals is the standard-bearer for adults-only, couples-first luxury, with resorts across eight Caribbean islands and inclusions that actually mean it — top-shelf pours, à-la-carte restaurants, even scuba for certified divers. The butler-tier suites are the real deal, and the room-category ladder is a science of its own.
Beaches is the family side of the house: everything-included resorts in Turks and Caicos and Negril with waterparks, Sesame Street characters, teen hangouts, and certified nannies — the rare place where “kids club” means parents genuinely get an afternoon off.
Sandals categories reward strategy: the right club level or butler tier changes the entire stay, and some “upgrades” aren't worth the label. We know which ones earn their keep.
Adults-Only or All-Ages?
The first fork in every all-inclusive conversation: is this trip for grown-ups, or for the whole roster? Adults-only resorts trade waterslides for quiet pools, late dinners, and swim-up suites; family resorts counter with splash parks, kids clubs, and enough programming that multigenerational groups can scatter by day and reunite at dinner.
The fine print is where trips are won: which restaurants need reservations, whether “premium” drinks are actually premium, what the resort credit really covers, and when hurricane season makes travel insurance non-negotiable. We read all of it — before you pay a deposit, not after.
